A New Year Beckons!

Looking forward to the new school year? So are we! With fantastic resources, opportunities for engaging with our team, and important news about our sites and museums, the Wisconsin Historical Society is your partner for the coming year!

A New Wisconsin History Center

With every passing day, we are moving closer than ever before to realizing a new history center that will demonstrate our commitment to our mission, vision, and values for all those we serve.

Over the next several months, we will be carefully dismantling the current exhibitions in the Wisconsin Historical Museum and transitioning the museum artifacts into safe storage to make way for the construction of the new history center starting in 2024. As part of this process, our team will begin dismantling the 3rd and 4th floor exhibitions on September 12.

All fall school programs will take place on the 1st and 2nd floors of the museum, where students will encounter and explore museum highlights including Indigenous history, lumbering, dairying, mining, the fur trade, and immigration stories. Lunch space will still be available to groups who have requested it in their reservation.

During our time of transition, we are excited to support you and your students in new ways! Below you'll find education offerings around the state from our historic sites. Additionally, the Society has restarted the Hands-On History program, designed to bring museum education directly to your classroom. Finally, our virtual programs continue to grow and evolve and are ready for you today! Discover all we have to offer on our education page!
